Significant Progress
The 2021–2025 National Health Sector Strategic Plan indicates that health worker density has risen to above 20 health workers per 10,000 population; making it a 49.25% increase. (MTNDP 2024-2030. p.79)
" 13.4 health workers per 10,000 population"
Production of medical doctors has risen from fewer than 50 graduates per year to nearly 100. Production of midwives has improved substantially, supported by the establishment of midwifery schools in all regional headquarters. Over 2,000 nurses graduate annually; because of almost all districts now have nursing training schools. Overall, these outputs demonstrate a deliberate and sustained approach to addressing human resource gaps in the health sector.
